I set my alarm for 4:30, but awoke at 4:00, restless and unable to sleep. How is it possible that I could have problems sleeping after the past 2 days? The mysteries of the body. Top UM finisher Peter Kotland said he couldn’t sleep for 3 days after winning the event (with his epochal 5:33 course record setting double marathon) 10 years ago, so I guess its a thing.

What a fantastic race report. You had such an adventure out there. Congratulation and thanks for posting. Woo Hoo! You rocked it!
You would think that with the second fastest time of any American competing in the Ultraman World Championships (not to mention competing for the very first time), the sponsorships would literally be pouring in. I can’t believe that you ever had any trouble getting sponsors. Did the situation improve drastically after the Championships? Perhaps it’s because three years ago the sport had not yet gained the popularity that it has gained now. Even now, I can’t turn on ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX, and see a bike race, running race, swim race (except for the Olympics), etc., etc.
